Nestled on a plateau overlooking a canyon in the Los Angeles hills, Lantern House elevates the everyday into the extraordinary. Inspired by the rustic simplicity of a classic wooden barn, the home’s dark weathered exterior sits in contrast against its oak grove and landscaped surroundings, giving it a striking yet grounded presence.
Collaborators

Designed with a dynamic spatial approach, the home features interconnected volumes that modulate between grand entertaining spaces and intimate family retreats.

Carefully arranged sections frame breathtaking views—from the iconic Getty Museum and sweeping canyon landscapes to treetop canopies and secluded gardens.

Embracing the tranquility of a Japanese luxury resort, the design embodies wabi-sabi principles through its material palette: charred wood siding, limestone floors, pale white cedar ceilings, timber columns, oak planks, and a custom Accoya wood slat screen, evoking a serene woodland retreat.

The result is a nuanced experience that continuously shifts between expansive and intimate moments, celebrating the interplay of scale, light, and natural materiality.
